-Mill Bluff State Park-

Good Friday 2020 brings us on a trip 1.5 hours from of Eau Claire on another hiking adventure.  Mill Bluff State Park is located just south of Tomah on Highway 12 near Camp Douglas, WI.  At the time of this writing the park is still open, however the stairway to the top of Mill Bluff is closed until further notice.  A link to the Park website is available here.

The main park has multiple parking lots, a small campground, a beach area and trails circling the bluff.  We started here and walked along the hiking trail at the base of Mill Bluff.  The trail is fairly easy but if you wander off the path there are some steep rocky areas to explore.

Camel Bluff

Next up and just a short drive east on Funnel Road is Camel Bluff Trail.  This area of the park has multiple wooded trails with some of the larger bluffs that can be climbed to gain a spectacular view.  Most have multiple levels to climb ranging from easy to downright dangerous so keep an eye on your smaller children.  The main trail here is a moderate hike and the loop back to the parking area is under 2 miles.

Bee Bluff

Our last stop of the day between Camel Bluff and Mill Bluff is Bee Bluff.  A rock formation most Wisconsinites would recognize from driving along Interstate I-90/ I-94.  This flat topped bluff has some unique green coloring that make it worth the hike.  A bit of a steep trail with some loose ground along the edges make it moderately challenging to trek around.

Overall this a great little park that has something fun to offer everybody regardless of age.  The views from the bluffs should make this an excellent destination for fall color viewing as well.
