-Brunet Island State Park-

After biking on the Old Abe State Trail from Jim Falls to the Cobban Bridge it was break time.  Jen and I loaded up the Bikes and drove to Cornell to check out Brunet Island State Park.  Another nearby State Park that we had yet to visit.  We are quickly realizing we have been missing out on great destinations close to home all our lives.

Deleted: Although this park isn’t very big it is surely worth a visit and has lots of great scenery.  Surrounded by the Cornell Flowage there are some nice wooded hiking trails and a decent sized campground.  The backwaters around the island would make for a relaxing place to paddle a kayak or canoe.

The Old Abe State Trail runs right into the park so we are looking forward to biking this stretch back towards Jim Falls.  The drive here on the river road(Hwy 178) is worth the trip alone if you are in the area. If you have never visited Brunet Island State Park then you should make plans to do so!

The park offices and restooms were still closed when we visited but should be reopening soon.  A park map is available for you here.
